I have always thought that the Warmoth bridge pickup rout option being "Music Man" vs "Music Man (Sweet Spot)" is ambiguous.

Can someone confirm, with certainty, that "Music Man (Sweet Spot)" means MM pickup in the MM position?

Yes it does, but I also remember measuring it once and then comparing it to my real Stingrays only to discover it was a few millimetres out. However, it still sounded close enough.

Ambiguity resolved:
When choosing the bridge pickup type/location,
the visual simulator to the left shows that "Music Man" puts the MM pickup centered where a J bridge pickup (60s spacing) would be,
but it shows "Music Man (Sweet Spot)" farther forward.
[It shows "Music Man (Sweet Spot)" farther forward, but not as far forward as a P pickup; that's what I was worried about.]

But I'm still curious about the "few millimeters out" comment, above.

I was measuring from the low E string's saddle (the breaking point) to the first available surface of the pickup (that facing the bridge). I no longer own any real Stingrays to be able to check this now, but the measurements were NOT the same when compared to where Warmoth placed them under the sweet spot description.

I have owned 3x 4 string Warmoth bodies with Musicman sweet spot placement and while they didn't measure the same as the pair of real Musicman Stingrays I had, the fact I no longer have the Stingrays but HAVE kept 2 of the Warmoth bodies should reassure you at least a little that they sound close enough! ;)

I had to research this a bit for a medium scale bass of mine, but you could take a look at baritone guitar cases/bags and see if the internal dimensions will fit. As they have become more popular the case manufacturers are catching up with more options.

Finally got around to ordering a neck to go with this body I bought from the showcase 10 months ago.

So, over the next few months I’ll gather the rest of the parts I need and put together a swanky new Gecko 6.

It is. Mahogany body with a Wenge top, finished clear gloss. It is, in fact, the exact body they have on the website for Gecko 6 bodies.

I’m glad I managed to snag it from the showcase last year, it really is a gorgeous body. It’s got me wanting to do more wenge tops in the future, and I’m glad I can finally start moving forward with this project.

My Warmoth 3-pickup jazz has a bubinga neck with a wenge fretboard. I bought some pen blanks (small pieces of wood for making pens on a lathe) in bubinga and wenge and practiced putting some finish on them. The bubinga turned out great, and so I ended up using it on my headstock. But every attempt I made with the wenge ended up looking ugly, so seeing it turn out so nice on your body was a bit of a shock to me.

Wenge has a lot of open grain, I wonder how they filled that?

I'm looking to get a short scale warmoth built! Just wondering if anyone has experience with both z bass body and the G4. What's the difference and how do you like them in terms of ergonomics, feel and weights? Thanks!

PS: I'm looking to put just one music man pickup and three knobs if that helps.

Uh, they're smaller? Seriously, that's pretty much it. The Dinky J is a little bit narrower and sleeker than the standard Fender Jazz shape, similar to the Sadowsky J shape. There used to be a picture comparing the outlines of the two shapes on the old Warmoth site, but I don't see one on the new site.

they look almost the same. Why call it dinky then? are they actually lighter?

@LowEndLobster's video is pretty good. I like the tone, but as you can see from my questions, I'm very worried about weight. If Goldmemeber played the bass, It'd be the one lobster is playing.... "I Like Goooold!!"

here is a picture of my warmoth gecko 6 in between a warmoth jazz and warmoth P. The 6 only has 5 string becuase I was experimenting.

That collection is KILLER ! It looks like you have every "bass" covered. I LOVE the Alembic Epic. Probably my favorite model. You have a fretless, semi hollow (wait, a Les Paul that I thought was a semi hollow at first glance), Steinberger, all you need is a Peavey Cirrus and you're set ! :)
