A cut that deep isnt practical for what most people are looking for or want. They may be able to mod a gecko body but its not a standard option and will probably cost you.

Something different, all Warmoth. Gecko maple PH neck, gold(ish) frets. Warmoth explorer 4 string body routed out pocket. Nice bass to play if not a little on the large size. Roland GK-3B pickup feeds VB-99 only. Neck dive is a real problem on a bass like this, aleviated some what by extended strap lock position support bar. Regards to all.

This is the third 6 string explorer bass that I know exists: one is mine (a custom made) and the second one was done by ESP custom shop.

Do you have any records of this bass, I'm really very curious about its sound.
I have yet to find a chambered korina body, bubinga neck Fender jazz with Delano pickups hanging anywhere in a store...especially not for less than the $800 I put into it.
FWIW, I'm really thinking about a swamp ash Thunderbird body with a wenge neck and J+MM setup for my next build...

Future Warmoth owner here. I'm waiting on the big brown truck to bring me Warmoth's first production Jaguar Bass! I got my shipping number this past monday, and it's currently in Utah last time I got an update.

. Turned out much better than i expected and very easy to assemble using Warmoth items. As for sound, hard to get a sound onto the internet that conveys all the characteristics. Try later on.Have many basses 4,5,6,7,8 string fretted and fretless. Being a hex pickup only bass its a combination of Bass and VB-99 for sound. Wanted a quick switch live performing stage setup. Have that and more now. The sustain is amazing on this 6'er. Like 20 seconds on the open B,E,A strings. Full ranged bass though i think while the highs are ok, little less than best due to the DR Hi-Beams, am a Rotosound man from 1975, think Elixir may be better on this 6'er as well. Half the fun experimenting.

After reviewing this thread carefully, I'm thinking it's time to take the Warmoth plunge. I've been wanting to build a jazz or a p-bass for a while. Upon wathcing this video, I think I know what I'm doing...
I am happy with my JJ and PJ Warmoth basses.
Both have J necks and P bodies, Seymour Duncan pickups, Gotoh hardware, Fender TBX tone, and 500k volume pots.
The JJ is EADG, the PJ is BEAD.
My inspiration was the mid 80s Fender Jazz Bass Specials and Yamaha BB basses.

I pulled the trigger on a new body and neck. I dont really have any experience with fretless but figured it couldnt hurt to have one. This will also be my first fender body style bass.

Thats really not that pricey for what you get. My gecko build makes that look easil affordable. A lot of the cost seems to come from labor. I mean look at what you save from doing the paint yourself. As for the necks, im generally not a fan of what warmoth offers (or rather not so thrilled about what they choose not to offer). Sure i payed more to have a custom neck built from someone else but i get all the options i want w/o having to cut corners or compromise. One thing ive noticed is warmoth says they CANT do things that they simply DONT WANT TO. I understand that they run a business where they try and streamline things the best they can. It just seems like options are cut out because of it. As wyliee said though bass parts arent even close to the majority of their work.
I feel no need to get into it unless you feel its necessary. Only reason being is i dont want anyone to think im bashing warmoth because that is not my intention. That and i can only really expand on my experience regarding gecko necks.
I think the neck prices are way more outrageous than the bodies. I'd pay $530 for that body, forsho 
IIRC a maple/maple (no frills, just straight up maple) fretless neck is like $400. I just looked it up. Its 300, but still pricey. Not worth the maple fingerboard, seeing as mighty mite is now offering a maple/ebony fretless neck for $99
