Yeah, it bothers me that it wasnt done right but what can you do? Ive still had overall good service from Warmoth and know whoi need to talk to when i have questions so whatever. Sadly, i dont think ill be buying a neck from warmoth for my build. Their options are just to limited for my liking. Maybe in the future if they continue to expand their bass line itll be different. Once im done with this one ill probably start another right away though. The dinky p is looking really nice to me at the moment.
To any and all.I am considering a Warmoth bass in the future.After scrolling through most of the postings in this forum I have a question.Why do practicaly all of you warmoth users choose a Fender copy?Doesn't anyone have the imagination to design someting different with the blank option?Why go to a different builder to get the same ol' same ol' Fender shape?I may choose the Gecko design but with a deeper cutout to reach the high registers,or design my own bass.Why be sheep and get what you can get at any guitar store anywhere??
Point me to these "any guitar store anywhere" business's where I can get a 5 string P bass, with an ash body, figured top, any finish, a MM pickup in the bridge position, a wenge neck, ebony fretboard, blocks and binding, matching headstock, string through body or top mounting, and an active pre-amp.
I'd be a regular at such stores.
Also, Fender shapes are very comfortable.
+! P basses have gotten the short end of the stick in regards to fancy tops, cool finishes and unusual body woods.
Geckos also have a deep enough cut....

I love the idea of a ultra flash P, total "coffee table" bass, but underneath, its a grindy split P, and hell, maybe something like a John East P-Retro.

I haven't decided exactly what I want to do yet. Here's three ideas I've got.
1. Black limba body - straight up, just find some with really cool grain with probably a bloodwood fingerboard/canary neck or limba neck.
2. Alder or black limba body with quilt maple or camphor burl top.
3. Alder with koa top, rosewood or pao ferro fingerboard, canary neck.
No kidding. I keep hoping something nice will show up in the showcase, but that's like waiting on snow in July...unless you're down under.

Hahahahaha, recently I was waiting for a special neck in the showcase, a maple with black B&B, and my prefered dimensions/headstock, this was before you could order them with b&b, eventually I got tired of waiting, and spent the money elsewhere, and bam! Six of them pop up very next week.

Umm...Not quite.Think Zon Hyperbass deep cutout.Im thinking three octave fretless,one bridge humbucker,five string.Although a Gecko body might do IF Warmoth deepen the cutaway.Otherwise I may go with the body blank and do it myself some how.
