Podcast recommendations? There's gotta be a TED talk about fraud or dishonesty that applies.
It's like a "which one is different?" test. Yeah, I would have been happier to see four different scroll basses instead of four pictures showing a teensy bit of progress on one. It is what it is.
I'll ping him next month for a progress report. I'm sure he'll have lots to say, given that he promised to get all scroll basses done by May 15th.

Anyone from here would surely be locked up on violent crime charges should they enter his shop.
I don't doubt you. I don't really like Facebook, usually only login a couple times a week, so even though I have Darrin's pages "stickied" to the top of my feed I'm sure I don't catch everything.

Trabeen, my thoughts exactly. Puscifer or A Perfect Cirle? Some other music that I have been absolutely digging lately is, the Dead South, Home Free, the HU, and Imagine Dragons.
Once again, a brief update from a local, being me. I have only communicated with Darrin many years ago... One of my best friends (Dave) is also friends with his dad (Terry).
Last time I talked to my friend Dave, I asked if he knew how Darrin was doing. He said Darrin is doing good, and "That's all he is doing right now" (building instruments). It is also my understanding that he is building a line of guitars to help fund the business.
I know this isn't much to add to the conversation, but it is honest and from the heart.

Well, I guess all of us who paid him almost a generation ago for a bass get to hope that these guitars he's actually making progress on sell well... if he finishes them, that is.
Seems to me if he succeeds, then he will have to continue making this current line of guitars to keep the business afloat. I am not sure where completing bass orders from 15 years ago fits into all this current planning. I sure hope I am wrong for the sake of all who put money down on a bass all those years ago.
Yah where does the cycle end? Is he gonna have to sell a bunch of guitars to make up for the capital he put into making a bunch of guitars?
I worry more that he'll complete a batch of guitars and then they don't sell well. There's never a shortage of window shoppers and tire kickers. How many will become paying customers?
If his guitars do sell, then he will no longer have any excuse* not to complete the decade-plus overdue basses as promised countless times, and we'd find out soon enough whether he resumes work on them.
Before any of this happens, he has to complete the guitars. That's another big question mark.
*Yes, of course he could come up with yet another excuse, but he'll have to get really creative. Endless guitar building doesn't cut it.

You are never getting your basses. I hope the people who are going to buy his guitars didn't put money down.
Well he offered up two batches of guitar bodies last November. Then said they were all spoken for. Then he said deposits would be required once work started on them. And here we are, 4 months later, not a single guitar finished from what I can tell. So chances are... Just more of the same. Sadly I believe more people just got scammed.
I think everyone knows and agrees at this point. But this thread needs to live on and stay active so any time a potential customer googles his name, he sees an ongoing and current conversation.
