Im looking to buy a new bass, and at the minute im torn between a Warwick Corvette FNA Jazzman, or a Warwick Corvette $$ (double buck).

The Jazzman has a humbucker, and then a single coil at the neck...the double buck does exactly what it says on the tin...twin humbuckers with a 3 way switch for each!!

Im looking for versatility...which should i go for?

They're both uniquely versatile in their own ways, however I'd go for the jazz man. Thats because I love the sound of single coils, but o find out which one of those basses is for you you'd be best set trying to play both, and hear what type of versatility it is you want.

btw, why didn't you ask this in the bass forum?

I did a weeks work in a music shop for experiance around January and I was already considering getting a Warwick then. Now considering that for the last three days of the experiance I just sat down and got to know all the basses in the shop, I have to say that I was seriously considering the FNA Jazzman, but the $$ was much more within my price range and I already new from a few reviews in magazines that it was going to be a versatile instrument. I'd say get your hands on one of each and decide for yourself. If you are a 5-String user then I would definatly go for the $$, I read another review about a 5-string $$ and it said the the Low B sounded phenomonal!

On a slightly related topic, I've been waiting for my tax at work to come back, and it should in the next few weeks, so it's new bass time for me. So it's time for me to go for what I've always wanted, a proper Warwick. I was considering both the $$ and FNA Jazzman strongly. But the guitarist in my band just told me that one of is fathers employee's is selling a 5-String Warwick Thumb(Blue with gold hardware) for only 450 euro. Considering that a 5-String Thumb on a cheap internet site is 1400 euro, I decided to try and get my hands on the blue one. Alas, I got there too late, somebody took it away to try it, I'm not certain but I think they're going to keep it. So I'm heading up to the shop where I did my work experiance to try out th Warwicks tomorrow morning, they already said that they would give me a discount(they give a discount on everything up there anyway, they even give my firends discounts!), which is pretty handy. I'd say I'll probably go for a brand new 5-String Thumb... mmm...
It might be tough switching from 4 to 5 but I'm looking forward to hearing it in action... with a discount!

After coming back from the shop today, I'm firmly set on getting the $$, no question about it, it just blew me away. I tried an FNA. Jazzman and a Thumb 5-String and the $$ the most. For me, the sheer power on tonal capability off of the thing was staggering, especially for it's price.

The Thumb had no variety in tone at all and the Jazzman sound very fat and worm, but too much so for me, especially since I knew I could probably get the tone off the Thumb and Jazzman on the $$ anyway... superb bass.

Just a month ago I purchased a ROCKBASS by Warwick...ye gods it sings ,dances tells your fortune..ya...it's all that and a bag of picks...kidding..very sweet sound,change the knobs and it's growly like a warwick should be....punchy and warm and low on that tight B string...go try one for 30 days ..if you're not happy...the store will deal with you straight up email me @ [email protected] me know how it turns out
