Warwick Corvette 5 String: Standard or Doublebuck?

Out of those three, I'd say save your money and hold out for a use $$NT. If not, go with the Corvette standard bubinga. The $$ is a nice bass, but it's more like a Bongo then a Stingray. I'm not saying Bongos or the standard $$s aren't good basses, I just believe the tone on the Standard bubinga to be better. I've never played a $$NT, but that combination has gotta sound awesome! Long story short, I would save my money, wait and try to find a $$NT used. Good luck with your choice!:hyper:

The Hotness!!!

Hey all,

Thanks for all the input on this decision...I finally manned up and bought myself a new bass. Well, new to me anyway...I picked up a 2003 Warwick Corvette Standard 5 today on ebay. I am excited. The picks looked SWEET and I cannot wait to get my hands on this bass.

Thanks again for all the advice. If there is anything you think I should know about the 2003 model, please let me know!

Thanks!

BigJ

ha. i was watching that auction. cali pawn shop. congratulations. i also bought my first warwick this week; 2007 warwick corvette 5 active. i plan on saving major dough and picking up the infinity nt (not sn). i find it to be very classly with the f holes. like you, i was torn between the bubingo vs swamp ash.... active vs passive..... bucks vs jazz... ect.... i went with a sure thing, like you. i just wish warwick would make lined fretless a standard. enjoy the wick.

Small world! That's the auction...was watching since yesterday! I am happy with the price considering what I got. I am still saving my money still for a Thumb NT 5 string. I play an unlined fretless 6 and I love the look of the unlined fingerboard...late last year a sweet looking fretless Corvette 5 sold on ebay for $500...I wish I had bought it in hindsight!

I am really excited about getting my hands on my first Wick! I hope you enjoy yours too! I can't wait to start laying down some lines on a fretted bass again! I have not owned one for about 7 years!

Later bro!

yeh. my main is a fl too. comes in handy when u are flat mid song and dont need to touch the tuner to get back in key lol. another down side is the neck. i've only owned ricks and ibanez and the wicks necks are telephone poles compared to a SR or 4003 neck lol.

Yeah, I think I will have some adjusting to do...my Warmoth neck is wide but slim....the Wick neck looks somehow beefier, but I will not know till I get my hands on it. I am so excited...will not be sleeping tonight! Cant wait till it gets here... I am glad I sold my Music Man SR4 cause it forced me to play my FL and get good at it. I have been playing it live every week for 7 years and even recorded on it...it was scary, but I got good at playing it which makes it worth while...but I cant wait to get my hands on some frets again!
