OK, I've got a 2001 passive Corvette std with ovangkol neck and a 1999 active Corvette std with wenge neck. I am thinking of swaping the necks. Is that a safe/easy thing to do?

Yes, that's how it seems like, they are the same model... should fit like a glove. I just have never unscrewed the neck off of any of my basses. I guess I'll try it tomorrow.
Well, my original bass is the passive 2001/ovangkol neck, but I came across a very very good deal on the active 1999/wenge neck. Now I wanted hotter output from my bass and I had heard great reviews for the wenge necks, so I decided to take it and sell my passive corvette. Now that I have them at home, I like the wenge neck very much, more than the ovangkol, but I love the look on my bass' body too much and I also like the natural sound of passive electronics more... So I was thinking that I could put the wenge neck on mine and then sell the active with the ovangkol neck. It's simple really
