Warwick Corvette Pro Line German

Hi, I'm a keys player who is just getting back into bass guitar and I once owed a corvette standard which I got from bass central for around $1200. I love the corvette standard. I'm realizing the corvette price has gone up to $1850. I would like for you guys to help me out with the difference between a 2005 model corvette standard and the present pro line corvette standards. Only thing I picked up from looking at the pics is the name written on the head stock is a different style. There is a used 2005 model on eBay for $995 and the new one on bass central is 1850. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Well I got a 2001 German Corvette Proline. I think what you may be thinking of is the pro series. The original proline were discontinued in like 02-03. If it's the legit proline it's around 700 yeah. I think it's perfect. It's got that Warwick growl but can do so much with it

Okay, let me get it clear. Bass Central has the active German Pro Series Corvette 5 for $1850 - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
I see the Corvette Standards for $700-$1000, some even say made in Germany and all bubinga (which I'm looking for). So what's the difference? The current ones are almost $2000 while you can get a 2005 model and most used ones I see for half the price. What am I missing?

I'm not an expert on any of this, but from what I understand from a chat with my local dealer and reading on the net this is what's happening: Warwick changed the way they structure their lines "recently". I'm not entirely sure what "recently" means, but probably in the last few years, or even just in the last year)

They basically increased the prices for their CS models, and now offering 3 "levels" of instruments:
  • "Rockbass" - made in China and ostensibly quality-checked by a german tech. Whether this check is performed in Germany (possibly opening the door to a "made in Germany" stamp is unclear - my guess is that it doesn't).
  • "Pro" - Made in Germany to standard specs.
  • "Custom shop" - Made to order in Germany. Pricey.
What makes this even more confusing is:
  • They didn't change the model names, so when looking at the classifieds it's impossible to tell if you're looking at a bass from before or after this change.
  • There's a big overlap of models between these lines, so unless the seller lists "rockbass" or "pro" explicitly, you can't tell. BTW, the features are sometimes different (e.g. A Corvette $$ "Pro" seems to have more switches than the Corvette $$ "rockbass")
I'm actually looking at a "pro" lefty Corvette $$ on ebay right now, so would be happy to hear more reports about this.

From what I understand, that is mostly correct. IIRC Warwick Official said on hear that the "Pro" line is no longer made in Germany, but instead made in Korea and QC'd by a German Tech and/or in Germany. So at that point the difference between the PRO and the Rockbass comes down to wood, fret material, some electronic packages and some frills (LEDs and whatnot.) Bridges, pickups, and nut are the same. Or go the other way. The major difference between the PRO line and the Custom Shop is country of manufacturing.

The typical Corvette Pro Line has active electronics and gold hardware. The very early Corvette Pro Line has actually a standard Corvette with ash body.

The Pro Series is the moniker Warwick gave to the Corvette line they made in Korea I believe.

The older German Prolines are great. Well all German made Vettes are great but the prolines were really nice. Ligter body woods, and great electronics. I am lucky to own a '98 with wenge neck. Fantastic instrument, well worth the price I paid.

We stopped end of 2013 the Pro Serie made in Korea and launched in 2015
the new

- Warwick Teambuilt "Pro Serie"

which is made now in Germany again. So the new Series is a more efficient part in our production and
above we have the Masterbuilt Series...
