Hi all! My Warwick corvette std 5's tuners are.. Awful.

The bass is amazing, I've had it for about a year and a half (pre-owned) and I just noticed the tuning pegs are loose!

I've ordered some Gotoh tuners, but I have never installed new tuners before. Does anyone have any helpful hints/tips as to how to go about this?

Thanks :)

Now that I think about it, I had the same problem with my Streamer. It was the bushings (the hex nut part that you see). They are crap. Warwicks distrubutor sent me new tuners with the new improved bushings, but Gotoh's will also take care of the problem. Just unscrew the old ones, screw the new ones in. Simple.

Shame you ordered the Gotohs already....here's a couple of tricks, one of which should solve the problem:

*Remove one of the bushings / ferrules with the washer in place and hold it against the side of the headstock in profile. Is it as long or longer than the thickness of the headstock? If so, there's a good chance the ferrule is "bottoming out" on the business side of the tuner before creating the desired clamping effect. Solution: add an addt'l washer on top (tacky!) or grind 1-2 mm of material off the bottom / thread section of the ferrule to shorten it. If this is not the case...

*Remove the ferrule and wrap black electrical tape around the shaft until it just fits snugly within the tuner hole. Tip: while looking down from the top, wrap the tape counter-clockwise to avoid binding while reinstalling the tuner.

The Warwick tuners, or the ones I've serviced, are actually re-branded Gotoh GB-7's. Oh, yeah...a little Loctite applied during reinstall will work wonders.
