Warwick Double $$ Clipping?

Recently picked up a Warwick Corvette Double $$ Rockbass. Looks great, plays like a dream...BUT...it seems like the signal is VERY hot especially for a passive bass. At the store I had it plugged into one rig and when I was diggin in I could hear the speakers kinda "fart" for lack of a better term...Tried it another rig and it was great....Bought it...put it on my rig and I can hear a little bit of that same issue so my question is what do I do...Should I try plugging the bass into the active input to pad it a little?

Any ideas...I read that this little bass has a very hot output but again for a passive I'm surprised its doing this...??

Well the easiest thing you could do would be to turn the volume knob on your bass down. You could plug it in to the active input or reduce the input gain on the amp as well.

I will have to do some tweaking as Im still getting used to this bass having the two volume knobs that you can push and pull for coil changes...I still don't understand it...I just know what my ears like...I turned the volume down a bit but still bothered me. Also my other basses are all active so I thought if I broke a string on this one and had to switch out Id be in the correct input jack for the rest of the basses I have

Yeah, some actives are not very hot, some passives are hot. Use the Active jack, turn your Gain down until it stops clipping with your normal playing style. You may also want to look at lowering the pickups a tiny bit from the strings at a time.

Had the same problem with my german $$ pluged in to my cheapo practice amp the but i was as much to blame because i lowered the action and left the pickups to close to the strings so try lowering your pups if you dig in to much, you can also run it in the active chanel it will probobly fix the clipin at least it did for me.

I will give it a try at the next jam. May just be my E I need to highten instead since it only really does that when I dig in on on the lower stuff. Using the Hartke 2500 for my amp so I will have to do the tweaking with this.

Most nice warwicks have a hot signal. I play a Streamer II and the active preamp uses 18 Volts (two 9V batteries) I almost always run my volume at half when there is not an active input.

Oh yeah the push pull on the volume knob is not for the pickups - it bypasses the on board preamp when pulled out- I think its like that for for almost any nice warwick . FYI - that being said... I am not as familiar with the Rockbasses - they have some of the features removed. Owning a Warwick is like owning a BMW or Porsche , so many little differences in each model. but you always get a well built machine.

c2thej2theizzo - This model the push pull is for seperate volume control over the neck and bridge pickups it says but either way yeah there is just a little to much signal I think for it on the lower end which is causing the smallest bit of distortion for my ears so I will try plugging into the active channel anyhow and adjusting the amp a little. Hopefully not much though as if I break a string on this and grab my other basses (which are all active) I dont wanna reset the amp to another setting
