I dont play loud. Just a violin and bass duo in a restaraunt lounge setting and some art gallery stuff. Unfamiliar with matching pickups with amps. Bassemma, whats your present pickup and bass?

As promised, some video of the Gnome from last night's gig. I had someone in the audience record a bit of our opening number. Edited down to about 3:30, so not a long clip.

Thank you. I was fortunate to be in the company of some terrific musicians who make anyone they play with sound good.
Hard to see in the video but the amp was set up to my right just behind and under the piano. A very good setting for that rig; not too loud but still needed for a little extra pop. I tend to agree with some earlier posts that this amp, and I suspect the others like it, sound best when used at low to moderate volume settings. For me, when I’ve had to kind of crank it, I find myself turning the mids & bass down to compensate as (and has been mentioned before) the tone does change considerably. But it does work. Nevertheless, if I know I’m going to be in a situation where the band will be hitting kind of hard, I bring the AI and some other cabinet.
Between yours and Bassemma's input, this may work for me with the 1 10 cab. Never will be a volume issue. My rock n roll days are long in the past and there are no drummers in the area. I do have a Genzler Acoustic Array and extention cab , but its presently our PA system.
I haven't tested the cabs, but I began reading a review of them in german language. After I had read that they have piezo horns and are completely blank inside, without any damping I lost all my interest and stopped reading ...
I now can contribute a little more experiences with the Gnome Head:
- The fan gets louder after a while of use, even while playing at low volume. My bandmates said, it isn't a problem, but it's definitely louder than the Markbass Nano for example.
- The Gnome also works great as a Jazz- and Clean-Blues-Guitar-Amp. Really beautiful!
- I like the transparent and somehow sparkling sound of the Gnome for BG and DB.

Im olso currious, how slunds Gnome for Upright, I read the input impedance is 10 Mohms, it couldn’t be more ideal for piezzo….
Yes, it pairs nicely with pickups; no preamp required. As far as the Gnome cabinet, I went in another direction. The TC cab that I use with the Gnome head has the 2x8” but no tweeter; nice flat response for upright. It’s also extremely light and has a flat surface on top so you can use it with other heads. (The Gnome cabinet appears to have some kind of pocket built in for use with the Gnome amp.)
Really helpful @BassiklyAC, thanks! I'm looking at lightweight rigs to replace my ageing GK MB150 and I'm thinking of getting the same setup as you. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you can help answer:
1. Is the EQ good enough to eliminate the mid-range "piezo bark" in your experience?
2. How is that cab at projecting sound so that you can hear yourself? I'm hoping that the 8" speakers will naturally do this better than the 12" in my GK, but thought I'd ask....

Keep in mind that higher frequencies are radiated more in a direction than lower ones, so you may need to elevate or use a wedge to hear yourself better. Or use a second small speaker (with a highpass) and a higher impedance to make that part not as loud and direct that upwards to your ears or on a stand.
Hello and glad I provided some insight. To answer your first question, I have the mids and bass almost all the way off; something like 8:00-9:00 depending on my volume and the room…I really have to scoop it and I still get plenty of low end but without the “bark” you speak of. Treble is usually set flat (12:00) but sometimes I turn it up a couple notches if it sounds like I need to cut a little more.
As to your second question, I have no problem hearing myself when using in a duo or small group setting that plays at a moderate volume level. There is a point where it can’t hang anymore but I have other setups for those kind of situations.
Ultimately, what I’ve discovered this rig does best is when you find yourself in those situations where you’re almost there being able to play acoustically but you need a little push to get you over. Then it blends nicely with your own sound.
Thanks @BassiklyAC - sounds like it'll do what I want - my gigs are in that same range of just being a bit louder than acoustic, although I have one gig that can go a bit louder. As long as the new setup isn't quieter than my GK combo then I think it'll work for me.
In terms of EQ, I have a Fishman preamp that I can add to the chain if I want more options (I don't need it with the GK).

Bought the Gnome head, had the 10" Eminence Basslite installed in custom cab. Happy with amp and speaker but slightly struggling with the KK pro max combo PU and preamp system. Presently working the amp minus all treble and midrange, bass at 9 o'clock
