that's what i thought. had a guy telling me earlier that the push/pull volume was broken, i was like "what push/pull?"
It was a 96 I bought as "NOS" in '01. It was the Fortress Masterman 4 in French Violet oil stain. Great bass but FAT neck!
I believe they were active/passive but since the pickups are active,
Passive doesn't do anything other than turn off the EQ.

If I'm not mistaken the masterman has two preamps, one for each of the 2-J pickups. I believe you get bass / treble boost and cut for each pickup independently. I'm also pretty sure if the MEC logo is gold then the pickups are active so an active/passive push-pull would only bypass the EQs, a battery would still be needed. There is one in the TB classifieds, you could ask the seller for confirmation.
here's the funny part, i had one for over a year, played it a lot. i had never heard until today that active/passive was even a possibility on these. i haven't seen it mentioned in the warwick manual either. and yet- some people apparently have that. maybe it was an option? idk.
Could have been an option, could have been a change to the model after a couple years of production. I'm honestly not sure if it has the option. I've looked at a couple streamer pro Ms in my search for a streamer but never actually played any. I ended up with a 5 string gps streamer stage 1 (which is awesome). It has the bypass with active pickups, so I gots to keep spare 9 volts on hand all the time now!
the manual seems to indicate it's active only with no push/pull circuit. all three knobs are stacked knobs with different functions
I've got two Warwicks and both are switchable active / passive. I always use them active, but ithey sound okay passive. I just like the flexibility.
If you don't have passive switching, you can swap the preamp. I love the Basses but I'm lukewarm about the MEC electronics. If you don't mind experimenting, you might even be able to improve the performance

Reminded me of when I decided to change the pickguard on my Stingray H/S. I was just la-di-da-da-ing along, took the screws out, picked up the plate - and was blown away by a hidden humbucker! It was the strangest feeling - like finding out after a year that your girl had a sex change or something. Not that I ever experienced that. And not that there's anything wrong with that, but it would be unsettling.

I have a 96 fortress Masterman 5. Control layout are 3 stacked pots from left to right Master/Pickup pan, bass/treble for front coil, bass/treble for back coil.
Take this with a pinch of salt though, im pretty sure there were a few different models with the Masterman tag so this may vary model to model, year to year.

This is the only scheme i was aware of. it seems to me that bypassing a single preamp would be a lot less involved than bypassing 2 preamps, but i'm not really an electronics wizard...
