Warwick Neck?

Planet Boulder said:
Actually, I don't think you can get a new neck from Warwick. Apparently, they insist on having the serial numbers match necks and bodies.

At least this was what i was told when I tried to get a replacement neck from Warwick. I wen through a couple different dealers, each of whom contacted the Warwick rep. Rep said I was basically SOL. Needless to say, I was less than pleased with Warwick's "customer service".

It may be different now.

So you have a different situation where you wanted a different neck because you didn't like the fretless. I don't know one bass manufacturer that will swap you different necks, let alone most won't sell one outright anymore. That's why you got blown off.

The OP situation is different where his neck is broken and simply want to get a like-for-like replacement. He will probably have to pay since it's not warranty and considered abuse (he dropped it), but he will get serviced.

You also need to be a supporting member to advertise things for sale here- even in reply to a request, if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: You might also want to review the commercial user's policy. :)

Is it a 5 string neck? This dude in Chicago has been trying to sell this wick 5er neck for a good price for a few weeks, throw him an offer, see if he'll ship?

(not me btw, I'm a Fender junkie at heart :bassist:)

this thread is ancient... i doubt the OP still has an issue.

Ancient as it may be, I am in a similar situation.
I purchased my Vette as is from a player that took absolutely horrible care of the bass.
The fret board is dented around the 12th / 13th fret on e E string side.
I found someone who can redress the board and repair the fret, but would love to just
have a brand new neck. I'm subscribing to read what comes down, resolution wise.

I am interested in the results of this inquiry as well. I have a fretless I would love to find someone to convert to fretted. Can anyone definitively say whether that would require a fretboard replacement; or can the scale pattern be acquired and the current board be slotted and frets added with successful results?

Regarding the above poster: Weird because Star Wars is on television as I'm typing this.

Good luck to all interested parties!

Also: This OP really never got answered in a proper manner.

Also watching with interest as I've just acquired a corvette with a very bowed neck and a maxed out truss rod. Sometimes that sort of thing can be fixed but for what I would pay a luthier to have that done, I'm wondering if I could get Warwick to fix or replace. Although since I bought it used already I'm probably SOL..

You can either contact Hanser Music (the Warwick US distributor) or the New York shop to find out about replacement necks. Generally speaking, I believe Warwick has a "One In, One Out" policy, meaning that you have to send them the old, broken neck in order to get a replacement.

They will NOT sell you a standalone neck, IIRC. So for the people wanting a fretless bass made fretted, your main option is going to a luthier and having them do the work.

You can find more information on the Warwick forum as well if you have any other inquiries; Florin is THE man.
