warwick necks

And speaking of Warwicks (sorry, this is a shift in subject from neck size/shape), I bought a Warwick Corvette fretless a couple of months ago (4-string) and I love everything about it except how heavy it is. I didn't realize this in the store where I bought it (because I was sitting down when I tried it in the store).

Any tips on stuff I can use to pad a strap with thicker padding, so this thing doesn't kill my shoulder?

Get a BROAD strap, that's at least as important with a heavy bass as a padded strap. Padding won't hurt though.

A lot of people do NOT prefer the wenge necks BTW, like the larger profile, like the consistancy of the newer warwicks and think they sound better.

Fair enough - IF they've actually tried both for more than a few minutes. But folks should realize that the current standard "traditional" (as they call it in the custom shop) neck isn't the only one out there. But DAMN the Wenge feels good!

I also suspect the broader, flatter design may be desireable for 5 or 6-string, neither of which I play.
