I went to the shop today and they had a Warwick Corvette Rockbass 4 string. I know these ones are made in china and It compared well against the other actual German Warwicks there.
They said they would give it to me for $600 (australian dollars)
I think this is pretty good.
Opinions?

Is it the corvette basic or the $$? The price seems ok, but if you can find the Korea made Pro-Serie down under give them a try as well, little bit more expensive than the Rockbass but excellent quality. Not that the Rockbass are bad....

I don't know what's the situation like over there in Australia, but shouldn't you be able to pick up a used Corvette Standard for that kind of money? The difference in wood would be quite noticable. Just my 0.02$. :)

+1

I had a nice, newer model Rockbass Corvette for a while. I got it when they were being sold at ridiculously low prices for a short while at some of the online stores. I think I only paid $400 US dollars or so. I'd rather have the "real" Corevette for a little more used, though. For whatever reason they sound a little better to me, and feel a little more comfortable. Of course, I have no idea what the used market is like in your part of the world, so it may not be a practical choice for you.

Still, there's certainly nothing wrong with the Rockbass. They are lighter than the German made ones. I gigged mine happily when I had it. :)
