Warwick, Squier or Cort?

Thanks guys, well right now looks like theres 2 titans out there for me.

Squier VM Jazzbass 70s in butterscotch blonde (sounds great in video demos, great look, great reviews...)

Warwick Corvette 4 bubinga used for 400 euros (I just contacted the guy selling it, looks amazing and old)

The idea of swapping those corvette pups for jazzbass ones sounds terrific, I was actually wondering me if the corvette was some kinda jazzbass oriented sound wise, I think those warwick sound more modern, maybe a bit better when played straight to a DI or interface with no amp but maybe cooler than a jazzbass.

came in to post Warwick

either the streamer with the PJ configuration, or a corvette (either standard or $$, bout sound awesome). For the money, you just can not get a better bass. The adjustable nut will change your life too.

I have to say that after watching some videos I really like the sound of the Squier vm 77 JB but those Warwick supposed to be a better quality instrument, anyway, if u go right now to the online store call Thomann, they have few b stock Warwicks for 440 euros and 500 euros brand new, pro series and standard model, really cheap price for a new german bass or are they korean?

I really think the a Jazz bass would suit your music best, but the cheapskate in me says if you can get a darn good used German Warwick for less, well let's just say we don't get that here in the States. :) Both good options though.

I know...the guy selling the bubinga did not reply so I texted another one selling an old 90s German Corvette for 400 euros and he just replied...so I think I have to get this Warwick if I can, then I will have time to swap it for a jazzbass MIJ if I find one or similar, or maybe just put some jazzbass pups in the corvette, actually my friend has ones, he is a good luthier and bassist, but he hate anything made in China so dont even bother to ask him about the squiers LOL...

Lets see what happens with this corvette, hopefully in my house soon.

Yes, I do that often too, if I see a way underpriced bass on Craigslist, I will buy it, try it out to see if I may like it, if not, I turn around and re-sell it for a more realistic price. Fund goes towards a bass I really want. My most recent bass right now is a MIM Fender Jazz. I bought it used for $200. (underpriced as it is). It was a no-brainer, had I not wanted to keep it, I could easily turn around and sell it for $300-350 which is the going rate for a used Jazz where I live or trade it for something I like - worth more than my original investment of $200. I love my Jazz bass so I'm holding on to it.

You can get to try the Corvette to see if it will work for you. Being that you bought it for a great price, should you not like it, then re-sell it or trade it for something else you'd like. I don't see anything wrong with that plan. Sounds good!

I think thats gonna be the plan, I cant find any used jazzbass around here, the only interesting thing I found was a Fernandes RB-60 Made in Japan por 200 euros, must be a great bass, is from the 90s, and is cheap as hell, a bit awful to me but those fernandes guitars used to be really cool

This is sound advice. German built Warwicks and Corts are not entry level instruments. I don't think any of the bass players with Jamiroquy or Incognito ever played Squires.....I know of at least one that recorded with a Warwick.

No disrespect to Squire as they are turning out nice instruments (I really like their CV series) BUT Warwick are fabulous instruments IMO vastly underrated currently owing to the fashion for J and P basses - the hype extending even to the entry level models. It's like comparing a Ford hatchback with a Ferrari!!!

Yes, this guy absolutely took the thoughts out of my head and put them into a words.

Squier makes great instruments for the price, no doubt about that, but when we're comparing a German-made instrument or one that has the same electronics/hardware as the German ones, we're talking about a different caliber in terms of build and in terms of resale value as well. If the Warwicks aren't for you, you can sell them off at a pretty decent price. I dig thinner necks for the stuff I wanted to play on the Warwick, but it was definitely a fine instrument. I like Squiers as fixer-uppers and mod machines. They are also low enough that I can buy a new one and mod it that way. YMMV man, but I'd go for the Warwicks, fantastic tone.

Well... Warwick Corvette standard Made in Germany in 2003 in natural finish, first impresion is that is well made, second one, that really sound more woody than some other Warwicks Ive tried, and third one... yep, the neck is massive! too big me LOL
I guess I need to stretch my fingers and need new strings, any suggestions? never bought bass strings, would be great if they are easy to play as I find this neck a bit bigger and longer than a jazzbass but could be my lazy hand used to the neck of my small telecaster :bassist:

good strings for funk and groovy lines?
