Warwick Too High Output

Hi,
In one band I play a Warwick$$ (active) over the PA system (two satelites and a 1000w subwoofer by Peavey), no amp, just use the DI out of my Boss GT6b. Since getting the Warwick I have experienced the problem that I can't play the bass at full volume or else the speakers crack. However this dosn't happen with any other basses I play over it.
I havn't had this problem with any other systems, only ours. Our guitarist, who is also our sound guy, seems to be under the impression that the bass has a "too high" output.
Can this be? How can I test this?

Check inside the control cavity on the bass. Sometimes manufacturers put trimpots inside active basses to adjust the output level.
