hey just to let you guys know.
i played a gig tonight in the hottest weather ever. im talkin record breaking stuff herre.
anyway, i did the gig with a was 112 (4 ohm) and a 8 ohm 115 cab which im sure breaks the amp down lowwer than 4 ohms..
and it stayed solid and sounde great!!
this little amp totally rawks!!
no jazz or blues. had to learn some qotsa for this gig!
basically its a rock gig and so is this amp!

i guess i got a good one!

when using abbreviations, please reference these abbreviations with at least one mention of the actual product name. until bongo mentioned the walkabout scout, i thought this was a new company called was.

and though you got away with it at tonight's gig, you won't get away with it forever. you'll eventually take its toll on the amp and it will go into thermal shutdown or break down prematurely on you, neither of which makes for a happening gig.

FYI, FWIW, there are plenty of us who flog our WAS at <4 Ohms regularly without adverse consequence. Yetserday was the 1st and only time I've seen a post on TB about a walkabout head whining about 2 Ohms,

That's due to the high noob ratio that exists here. Experience suggests that one is more likely to be accurate by assuming minimal knowledge and experience - rather than extensive knowledge and experience...especially when the OP doesn't provide sufficient background information in his profile or his post(s)... :hmm:

I am of the opinion that if the company who designed and made the amp think it is inadvisable to run their product at less than 4&#937; people should listen.

right.

chorine, in my case, i knew who you were, but i still thought it was a good idea to say it to you. some may get away with it, but i don't like playing the odds and experience tells me that operating gear within its safe parameters is safer than not.

Fair enough. I am of the opinion that how one uses one's equipment is a matter of judgement and personal choice, with the obvious caveat that any adverse consequences of disregarding the manual cannot be blamed on the gear or manufacturer. There's a fairly large collective experience in the WA megathread showing it's quite robust at 2 Ohms. IMO this is because there are many of us who are in love with the sound of the head but who yearn for a tad more headroom than it provides at 4 Ohms. I run it at 4 most of the time, but for a while ran it at about 3 Ohms (Epi 310/210) regularly and loudly with good results. To each his own:p.
