Was I In the Wrong Here?

I wouldn't sell something without KNOWING that it functioned as designed and I damnsure wouldn't list it as "Excellent".

I wouldn't have twisted your arm over money either. I would have wanted all my money back not half. You offered that so, I don't know what your buyers problem is. ( actually, I know exactly what your buyers problem is, I just don't want the infraction points for posting it.)

Welcome to retail.

As a buyer, not much is worst than waiting for and expecting an item in listed condition and receiving something less. Then return it and start all over again. Id be upset too, especially chrome hardware for a bass I love. How do you list exc. Cond. Without looking at it? Its not like it needed to be disassembled to see it. U should have given him the 35 bucks be because like you said, it was your mistake. Think how youd feel... I hate misrepresentation whether intentional or thru laziness, doesnt matter.

These bridges can be had for $85 new! A used one with corroded and seized parts is worth easily only half of retail, or less. You should've gave him the partial refund, you misrepresented the item.

But arbitrarily deciding upon a refund value, and invoicing a person for it is unacceptable! That's downright rude behavior! The buyer deserves nothing.

The adjustment screws were down inside of the saddles, not sticking up where I could easily see the heads. I fully admit that I didn't attempt to turn the screws before I listed the bridge's condition. It didn't even cross my mind.
My main issue is the way the seller came across to me in his messages. Had he conducted himself in a reasonable manor and communicated like an adult instead of a thug things may have turned out differently. Like I said, I offered a full refund including shipping! He refused. IMO that means he was not truly unhappy with the bridge, he just wanted a better deal.

Or it means he paid, waited, expected to have a bridge and needed it for his bass. He did say he had gig to go to. Yes he should have communicated with you better... but you really cant blame him. He was rightfully upset. I think you can understand his frustration. Something similar just happened to me. But I didnt leave any feedback.
