Hi!
So recently I had a chance to lay my hands on this beautiful bass - http://static.musiciansfriend.com/derivates/19/001/286/093/DV020_Jpg_Jumbo_514509.897_natural.jpg.
I really like the sound and everything, and the reviews I've read so far are also pretty good. Has anyone had a personal experience with this instrument? I have a chance to buy it for 377 euros/498 dollars at my local musicstore, the price also contains the washburn gigbag. I really want an instrument worth every penny. Would this bass be what I'm looking for, as my budget doesn't get much higher than 377 euros?

The Washburn line has taken me farther than any Bass I've ever played. I jumped from a four string straight to the XB-600 ... Now back to a 5 string.

Welcome to TalkBass Karvik.

I have one, well sort of, bought it from an insurance company with a slightly cracked neck.

I did try it before starting the repair, and while the sound through a SS amp (SWR ST220) was pretty good, through a tube amp (Fame BVH300) it was really disapointing for some reason.

For me that wouldn't be a problem, J-pickups are plentiful and easy to get, but someone here said that the size isn't the same as a "standard" J, so that'd be a bummer. Haven't gotten around to check it yet, because...

I found out that the TR was busted .

Since it's a dual acting TR (at least in mine), the repair is only possible by removing the FB and replacing the entire rod. So mine has been sitting without a FB for well over a year now.

The reason for THAT, is the fact that the bass is TINY. Sure, it's comfortable to play, but even though I'm not that big, it looks like a toy on me.

One of these days I'll fabricate a new FB for it (FF most likely), and redesign the upper horn , it'll be a good addition to the herd.

For that price, if You like the bass, the price is really hard to beat for a NT.
