Wattage Question

I'd say probably not, unless you're into lots of distortion, or the guitar player keeps his amp low. It takes much more wattage to push bass frequencies than a guitar amp requires.
 
id say yes, depending on what cab its paired with.

but since you said compete, is it a loudness contest? if your playing 'togther' you can always ask him to turn it down

No, quite the opposite but I'd rather choose something that'll balance well rather than force him to turn down.

The guitar rig is an Orange AD30 running into a 6x12. It's alot of midrange without being too heavy in the bass end.

I thought the going rate for tube was 3:1?

The amps I'm looking at right now are a Plexi, Ampeg V4 and Orange Bass 200. I'll probably be getting an Ampeg 8x10.
