WBO 2023: Stormbringer, or, the Elrickenbacker

This will be my second ever attempt at a scratch build. I am very green but I can't get this idea out of my head. I love Rickenbacker aesthetics but a few things make them less than ideal for me. So I've been thinking about a Ric with a P pickup and different neck for a while.
One of my favorite fantasy series is Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorcock. The titular character is a doomed anti-hero kept alive by Stormbringer, the black sword that thirsts for souls.
So here's my concept for the Elrickenbacker:
-35" scale tuned BEAD
-bolt on maple laminated neck with.
bloodwood fingerboard (naturally), 1.5"
nut
-walnut body with bloodwood center
stripe, 1.5" thick
-India ink stain with satin wipe on poly
finish
-Mojotone 70s P pickup, passive
-Schaller tuners
-bridge TBD
-chaos symbol somewhere
I'm building this from existing parts as much as possible. Conceptually a blade pickup would fit the theme better but I already have the Mojo P. The maple and walnut are leftover from a cabinet project.

I love the way he writes because he makes no distinction between pulp and high art. Imagine Robert E. Howard action with prose inspired by Romantic poets and psychedelic rock. He also has a band called Deep Fix and has worked with Blue Oyster Cult and Hawkwind.

Sounds cool! I read a few of the "Elric..." books and some of the "Corum" books in school.

I’ve never been a fan of Rics, but I’m going to give you major points for letting your geek flag fly. Following.

PS: Captain Oswald Bastable was my favorite Eternal Champion, but I will confess that I’ve only read a few. Elric, Hawkmoon, Corum, Jerry Cornelius…

I found the first 6 books amazing...The Elric stories written after that and the Corum material, IMHO I feel were most certainly after Moorcock started tripping and getting more verbose. I didn't find that as interesting.

Potentially, psychedelic's cant create something beautiful and sometimes its just random incoherent material. I like Moorcocks angry young man writing the best.

Dude, you totally need arcane runes as inlaid fretboard markers. Or stickers under the finish. But it needs the runes, preferably in blood red.

Back in the 80s, the metal band my friend and I put together was called Mournblade. Long time Moorcock fan.
