Wedding Guest

Sometimes people don't get that. My wedding was outside, just before dusk, in a very casual setting. We even said "casual" on the invitations. Of course she wore the classic white dress. I wore my dress blue uniform as I was still in the military at the time. My best man wore a navy suit and the maid of honor wore a blue dress. But as for the friends and family; who we expected to dress casually; the men all wore suits and the women all wore dresses. Everyone was seriously overdressed for what we were going for. However, my brother got it. He dressed casually. But he was the only one.

To some people, casual means "a suit that is not a tux."

well you don't want to outdress the groom... the only wedding i've been to wasn't super fancy so i wore something like this

depends how everyone else is dressing... try asking what some of the other guys will be wearing...

So I am going to a friends wedding in two weeks and I'm a bit stuck on what to wear. I have known both the bride and groom for almost 10 years. She is a fashion designer and he is a janitor (lol, he gets mad if I don't call him a custodian) which makes for an odd couple but they are good together and that's what counts.

ANYWAY....... back on track.....

She has designed all the clothes for the wedding party. The girls have very stylish dresses but to my surprise the guys are wearing khaki pants and white dress shirts. So now I'm at a loss because wearing my nice suit may be overkill.

I'm thinking of going now with a sport coat, no tie, dress pant thing but I'm having a bit of trouble finding something. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good sample pictures of what I'm looking for to give me a better idea...

Thanks for the help...

PS. My band is also playing a short 5 song set at some pooint in the night...200 people is the biggest crowd we have played to date. Can't wait!

Go to Men's Wharehouse. They'll get you fixed right up.

Well, if you put 'casual' on the invites, then the guests are just dumb then. But then again, they're guests, not decorations like someone said!

That's because weddings aren't the event to dress casually. You might put it on the invitation as "semi-formal/casual" if you don't want to make a fuss out of it, but people are still going to be wearing something a bit more festive.

Wow, this thread got big!

I'm just gonna poke around some stores this week and see what turns up but man do I hate clothes shopping...urgg.

Some good news tho....sounds like everyone is going back to jeans and such for the reception, which is much more my speed for jamming.

Maybe I'll bring my "flash" shirt :) Classy right?
