Weird flange/phase type sound from MIM jazz?

So I have this weird phase type sound coming from my bass, even when i go direct, i've tried it on 2 different amps. idk what it is... maybe a set up problem? i solo'd both pickups and they each have it, a little less than when i have them solo'd but its still there. worse when they're blended. anyone else ever have this problem?

its a MIM Fender Jazz bass... 4 string.

..i think thats awesome. i'd leave it.

seriously though, i think i remember that happening to my old guild b-301. diddnt play it for a while, then brought it for a setup, and next time i played it the sound stopped on its own. very stange.

Yep, I had the same exact thing happen with my SX short scale precision. It lasted about a week then it just stopped and hasn't returned. They were doing some pretty heavy duty construction right outside our house...maybe it was some kind of electrical or radio interference from the machines??
