Weird G string overtone

Above about the 15th fret, the G string kinda sounds like 2 g strings played simultaneously. Not overtones really but the same tone twice. I changed the string and it's still there.

Thoughts?

This was the solution for me in that instance. Let us know if it changes anything

Fixed it! I went over board with the neck shim. Took out one piece and no more overtone. I guess the neck wasn't coming into strong enough contact with the pocket.
