For years I’ve been the only bass player in my jam group. Recently one of the many guitarists decided to take up the bass. I was totally cool with it. At the last session he felt comfortable enough to play bass. While I “can” play guitar, I don’t really enjoy it. So I decided to play piccolo bass that night (didn’t want to crowd the bass range). It worked out really well. I still got to play bass of sorts and he got to work the low end. The combination sounded great too.
