Welp, I did it. NBD for Kaa.

I’ve been eyeing this for a few months, and got a pretty solid deal at the GC near my house. It was super ganked up,, so, I got it home and put some elbow grease to it, and it cleaned up nicely. Put on some Chromes, and am planning on playing it a good bit tonight to bed them in.

Has a pretty powerful P sound, which is my happy place.

A Godin Shifter Classic.

Really slim feeling Jazz sized neck that doesn’t make my left hand hurt. (I had an issue with 34” scale before my shoulder replacement, but, now there’s no pain at all.)

Very nice! Did any of the prior owners shield it? I love Godin (I have 3 of their basses , and an electric and an acoustic guitar of theirs), but for the life of me I don't understand why they don't do shielding at the factory.

Do I see a pickup switcher? That's fantastic!! I've been considering getting one for my PJ (probably a rotary selector?).
I used to "roll back the J a little bit" for years out of habit, until I realized there's actually a very narrow range on the potentiometer which has some tonal nuance, and beyond that it's all pretty much just pickup on/off

All the way forward is the P solo’d.
One click back is both in series.
One more click back is both in parallel.
All the way back is the J solo’d.

One thing I found was a little routed pocket beneath the pick guard. Doesn’t seem to attach to anything so I guess it’s to hide stuff from the po-po.

My Shifter Classic 5 has the same little carve out. I like your contraband theory, but maybe it's meant to reduce the body weight a tiny bit?

Probably, but, having a hidden compartment for my essentials is more interesting.

I've been playing it regularly, and all is good, well, except for my spatial awareness of the neck ength has been skewed by my previous two shortscales, and now I have 2 dents in my drywall.

I think this was only the second one that I've seen in the wild. And I'm a guitar shop junkie. My version of an enjoyable Saturday is driving a 20 mile loop to visit guitar stores in the Cleveland area.
