If you guys want to see some really off-the-wall war or western movies, you need to get a hold of the "Belle and Blade" catalog. Their website is www.warshows.com and they have a HUGE list of videos that they can get. Everything from Saving Private Ryan to Russian Propaganda and Training videos. Hell, they even have a 3 hour cassette that has no dialog, into, or even characters. It's nothing but gun camera footage from Japanese Zeros during WW2!!

I love reading the catalog, and if I had a whole hell of a lot of money I would probably buy everything they have.

You're absolutely right - I should have said that I was very disappointed with U-571, and found it to be full of clichés and inaccuracies - and that I found "Das Boot" to be much more entertaining, and factual (according to the book, and the director's commentary…)

Just before it is "acounts payable, this is nina, just a moment..." then the theme starts

Great way to keep people you dont know to hang up quick too:)

It has been released on DVD, som maybe there´s hope ;) The Finnish title is "Tuntematon sotilas", if that helps.

But of course both movie adaptations pale in comparison to the original book by Väinö Linna. It´s a true masterpiece, one of the greatest classics of Finnish literature. I highly recommend checking it out, I´m sure it has been translated to Norwegian. And English too, if anyone else is interested.

Oh ok...that's where we differ. I wasn't looking for facts...just entertainment. Rare is the historical movie that is more fact than inaccuracy..so much so that it no longer bothers me when a movie is full of inaccuracy. I just decided at some point that if I want to learn history I'll read the book. Kudos to Das Boot though for sticking to the truth.

BTW, the depth charge scenes in U-571 are incredible if you have a home theater with a good subwoofer!
