Double Bass What’s with these “Speakon” jacks?

There's probably not enough power to drive two cabs, which is probably why there's only one speakon out? What you're probably looking for is a direct-out line on your amp which you will need plug into another power-amp that drives one or more speakers. You def won't damage any of your equipment that way.

Cabs almost always have 2 (or more) connections on the back for this reason. Many amps which do not have stereo features will only have one output because you are expected to "daisy-chain" the cabs together.

FYI, there are combination Speakon/Phone Plug jacks on the market now. I turned Euphonic Audio onto them and they are using them in all their cabs now. They look just like Speakons but you can also insert a 1/4" plug into the center.

I swear by speakons there is a reason there mandatory in europe if you have them on your head and cab use them.
I am even using 10 gauge wire its about the size of a garden hose.

If I'm not mistaken, the amp in question can push up to 750W through 2 ohms. Definitely enough power there.

When I was in the Army Signal Corp back in the late 80's, we had some Vietnam era equipment that used the old 1/4" cables in the patch panel van. When we updated the equipment, I snagged one and used it for an instrument cable. :o Dern solid, but only about 5-7' long.

Prolly still have that thing somewheres.

I've just taken delivery of an Acoustic Image Series III setup and it's the first time I've used the speakon connector....as a bit of a dancer when I play (which is tricky with the upright) I like it because I was often standing on the cord and pulling it out with the 1/4 inch jack. Anything that makes me less aware of the amplification gear is an improvement.
BTW...I really, REALLY like the AI sound and it is perfect for the size of rooms I usually play..restaurants and pubs.
