What 6-string is this?

Out of curiosity:

This is Squarepusher's 6 string bass. I believe it is strung piccolo. He played a little flamenco/classical-guitar-ish thing on Culture Show with it (watch and hear it here!) and it has a really clear, awesome sound. It sounds like it might be responsible for a lot of the jazz "guitar" sounds on his more recent albums.

Just by looking at it, I can't really tell if it's a short-scale or not. But the neck seems really narrow for a 6, so it could've been designed specifically for piccolo playing.

Anyway, it now seems to me that a short-scale, narrow-neck piccolo 6 string bass played guitar-style sounds awesome. Where can I get a (cheap?) one?

Seems regular-scale to me. But the string spacing is narrow.

Great playing, but the tone's not my cup of tea.

I don't think so.

The Arpeggio and Nimbus have a similar lower horn, but the upper horn doesn't match either. And as BloodTypeBlue pointed out, the headstock is different.

Actually I was responding to the Fodera post. But you're right, the Hanewinkels don't have nearly as long an upper horn. The headstock does look a little similar...

There was a comment on the Youtube page saying it might be an Aries custom. I looked up Aries basses, but their website is completely kaput.

Does anyone mass-produce 6 strings with string spacing like this? Besides Fender Bass VI style instruments that is...

They're UK based, as is Mr. Pusher, so it makes sense!

Also, I don't think the string spacing is that out of the ordinary, I know he used to play 6 string Warwick basses, the standard spacing on a Warwick 6 is 16 mm I think, which is probably narrow by todays standards but not out of the ordinary.

Yep, it's an Iceni Zoot Custom Shop 6-string. I'm not a huge fan of the bodystyle, but they certainly sound great and Mike Walsh really knows his stuff when it comes to tone and construction (they offer a custom-tuned graphite neck option on some of their basses).
