With your description, I would recommend D'Addario Prosteels. They're exceptionally bright, and quite punchy. I string my Deluxe American Jazz Special with them and get exciting high end and growl!

I just listened to the clip you listed. D'Addario ProSteels are probably brighter than what you're looking for, actually.

I like a punchy tone with a lot of growl.
(I love growl!)

Now I have a pair of GHS Bass Boomers 40-100 (which was supposed to be 45-105).

I really don't know what my next pair of strings should be.
