what are these strings?

hi
i'm trying to find out which strings a favourite bass player of mine uses,but cant find a way to contact him.in pictures,he appears to be playing strings with a blue wrap on the ends,plus i believe he uses flats.does anyone have an idea what make these are?short of having a gibson thunderbird like him,the strings are the nearest i can get to emulate his sound

Both La Bella flatwounds and Rotosound Steve Harris flatwounds have blue wraps. Is it a nationally known bass player?

Sadowsky blue labels have blue wraps also. Do you have any youtube links or pics?

thanks for the replies.the bass player is horace panter from the specials.i'm not good with technology,so can only direct you to google images.type horace panter and theres a picture entitled friday stage action.you can see the strings quite clearly.

They look like rounds from the picture.

I don't see the coloured ball ends that Chromes have, either, and I think Fender flats only have silks at the headstock, same as LaBellas.

Both ends are wrapped so I'm not sure. They look like a lighter shade of blue than the Sadowsky blue labels.

Ernie Ball flats have blue silk.

D'Addario Chromes have blue silk too but they also have different color string balls depending on the guage of the individual string.

Not always - I have a set of 9050s's that have short green wraps on the bridge end only.

Fender flats don't have wraps on the headstock end, but do have teal/aqua green wraps on the ball end.

Doubt it's Chromes, they are wrapped at both ends but that wrapping looks alot lighter than the silk on Chromes.

Well assuming they are flats...

I think they're Steve Harris sigs. If you take the differences in lighting into account, I think its about the same shade of blue.

I just don't understand why he'd be using Steve's signature strings. Maybe he likes heavy gauge 77s and prefers the blue silks to the usual red?

thanks for your posts.as to whether they're rounds or flats,i know he used flats in the past,certainly flats on their original recordings 30 years ago.listening to some recent live recordings,he certainly gets a really fat sound.i think he used rotosound back then,and some more recent photos show him with the red silks of rotosound.he appears to have switched to these new strings now they've reformed and are touring heavily.as to the steve harris signature strings,do they have the same silks at both ends?

just a thought,in case horace has switched to rounds in recent years,could these be the nickel version of the rotosound swing bass?i heard they had blue silks,and i think he's been a roto user for a long time.any thoughts?
