I suck, but nobody really notices
Hey guys. We're working on some new songs right now, and I was wondering what yall got going on in your original bands. If y'all have some scratch jams, studio tracks, or crappy phone vids, I'd like to hear what you got.

This is last week's practice. Recorded off the zoom 4 LR mics

Great thread! I don't have anything I really want to share right now, but one of my bands (Two Eyes) is planning on going to the studio in September to record 8-9 original songs. I'm still writing one of them.

Really interested in seeing and hearing what you are all working on and will share when I have something that is more representative of where we're going.

@JeezyMcNuggles You guys have a nice sound. Lots of texture!

Thanks man. We had keys too, but he just stepped down for family reasons. Instead of replacing him, we've decided to just re work the songs without keys. It's been a process so far, but I actually think it's coming out better all in all.

I have a bunch of demos recorded but no videos, sadly.

Yours are awesome though! Does that zoom device also capture the video, or did you sync it up afterwards?
Umm, there's no video on that one. That's just a picture with the track going. I use YouTube as my endless personal storage. Have been since youtube was created.

But, no. No it doesn't. The zoom is new. We all just threw in on it. Everything else on our, and mine, youtube is straight off my phone.

Key are nice, but certainly not a necessity. Good sounding track, solid.
Nah, they aren't a necessity. But, they added an extra texture/flair that makes the music seem empty now. That's why we're rewriting our songs. Changing things up. Almost completely on a few of them...like this one.

lolll that’s what I get for not paying attention. I hit play and put the phone down… just assumed it was a full vid.

I’ll follow your lead and post some of my various band’s demo stuff to this thread. Thanks for starting it!

Btw, did you see the ones that we all started over covid? There’s a lot of great stuff there too. Obviously, the songs all pretty old now but here’s the thread I started: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/post-your-quarantunes-here.1455416/

Like if Iron Maiden was a ska band. Didn't know I needed this in my life.

Your drummer is a beast too, don't let him go. Getting that crack on the snare is a rare thing.

Great topic. All my bands went on hiatus during COVID and have not regained any tracttion for various reasons. On my own I did a soundtrack for a yet to be released animated SCiFi series and am currently digging into my electronic dreams and working on music and sounz for that.

I do several sessions a week for local songwriters and artists that keep me fresh grounded and a bit of income that is all too quickly spent on new gear.

For age and health reasons I have not been gigging the last few years but I am losing weight and exercising to get back in that saddle again soon.

Re-recording two original albums worth of songs with the current lineup. The challenge we’ve set for ourselves is to perform them live and recorded live off the floor with both audio and video and get them on our YouTube channel. Results are….average.

We’re working on improving our audio and video production quality and workflow. We’ve got about a half dozen tunes in the can and 18-20 more to go. More if we add in some of the covers we do.

My band is working on recording and mixing our new EP/album. It's been a work in progress for over 2 years now haha seems its really tough to get together consistently. Plus, the guitarist is learning how to sing in the front man position as well as recording and mixing the project. With those things in mind, it is what it is. We were all in a band previously and after the singer left, we split it up. We used to write collectively (mostly me and the guitarist brought ideas to practice and we would build off of that and compose together). But since we got back together (minus the previous vocalist) its been the guitarist writing most of it.

Its been tough for me to write the last few years. Inspiration and drive are far and few in between for me as of late. Life and stuff....
