What are you looking forward to doing once the lock downs are over?

Yesterday I made good use of the single day of Snow we had (for some reason, winter always passes my country) to make a long hike and I was thinking about what I'd like to do once the lock downs are over.

And I was thinking about my college years (1995-1998) when I would stay in The Hague for seminars. I loved the second hand record and video shops, I could spend hours looking through singles and VCR tapes, knowing that they wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg and that they would give me a lot of hours to kill time with once I got back to my place.

I first went to London back in 2013 and I found that they have those same kind of second hand stores as those in The Hague but much larger.

So that will be my thing to do once this crazy time is over, visit a second hand record store and this time I don't care if I spend over a hundred Euros there, I'm going to have a lot of fun.

Visiting friends and family, jams and gigs.

Going anywhere I want without having to go through a routine like I'm prepping for surgery.

Just grab the keys, get in the car, and GO!

I was thinking about this yesterday. First: My moms in assisted living and her dementia is getting worse. I call her every day and I visit her once a week (window visits) but I would really love to give my mom a hug while she still knows who I am.

Second: Now that I'm retired I thought it would be interesting to take an art class. I've been keeping myself semi occupied by drawing with colored brush markers and painting with acrylic paints. Not trying to draw or paint anything in particular, just whatever comes to mind. Just abstract stuff. No rules, just go for it and who cares!

Third: Oh, to be able to walk into a store without a mask! I miss seeing peoples faces.

I look forward to when we have nothing more to complain about than the weather. I am not optimistic.

I am just glad that one of my favourite activities is also perfectly suited to physical distancing - motorcycle riding. I saw more of certain friends of mine this summer than I usually do. Was nothing to call them up and say: "Let's go for a ride. See you in 10 minutes". Not like we had anything better to do! As far as that goes, I'm looking forward to spring, lockdown or no lockdown.

Not really. I'll just be happy to see all of your ugly, miserable faces again.

I won't mind dining in a restaurant that's too loud or busy. I'll happily walk into a guitar center (I've been there once in the past decade). Live music! I cannot wait to see local bands. I'm hoping to catch some not-so-local bands too!

First thing: just hanging out in cafés. A relatively small, simple thing that I really miss.

Visiting my friends, having them come to visit, and going to festivals. Somewhere in there, playing music with people.

Hugging my grand niece and nephew (5 and 3 1/2, my twin brother's grandkids, no children of my own), going out to eat, playing together with my uke group.

Travel interstate to visit my sister (west coast) and brother (north).

Not something I would classify as 'looking forward to' but just a simple in-person doctor appointment.

I'm diabetic and am supposed to have blood work done every 3-4 months, but have only been able to get into the lab about every 6-7 months lately. Plus I've had a couple of other things that really should have been addressed by an in-person exam rather than a skype appointment.

Having friends for dinner, laughter and music. Then concerts.

Playing hockey and watching my kids play. I miss it so much I feel sick thinking about it.

Seeing family, which requires getting on a plane. Playing music with my band. Seeing concerts. Going to dinner with my wife. Hanging with our friends. Going somewhere on vacation.
