For a while I had Oliv A with a Spiro weich E. It worked well. Oliv E, not so much.

I used old worn in Spirocore S42 mittel with Oliv g and d strings and it was pretty nice. But maybe just a touch tight feeling.

Just got a new bass, old one was a 43" mensure, new one is 41.125", went Perpetual set on the new bass, stark g and d. Strings are pretty nice but I didn't expect them to feel as loose as they do. Especially the a and e strings.

I am thinking the 3kg difference in tension between the two mensures might make the Oliv/Spiro feel great on the new bass. I thought I was gonna say no to string swapping but maybe I will just try one or two different combos.

4/4 Mittle Spiros for the E and A. They are at least a decade old and played as hell .I bought a used set a few months after I started playing years ago, and now they fit with the olives great. I sometimes muse putting the Spiro D on, or maybe a Weich A.

My bass is 43.5 scale length and the perpetuals (stark DG) are a nice workable tension. I found them loose on other basses which was cool sometimes, not cool other times. I've been poking around looking at maybe switching to something else, something warmer under the bow, something with less growl etc, but I remember the string search I did on this bass to get to perpetuals and I'm not sure its worth it lol.

I am using the Pirastro Perpetuals. Best E and A IMO.
