I found a used copy of The Key To Understanding Global History in my apartment building's lending library. It's the 2016 edition of a textbook written by James Killoran, Stuart Zimmer, and Mark Jarrett, presumably designed to help high school seniors prepare for the SATs. I'm finding it fascinating, both because of the extensively detailed-yet-condensed approach it offers to such a vast subject matter, but especially because of how not Euro-centric it is compared to the high school history/social studies curriculum I remember from the 1970s.

I feel you pain. I too received a “politics bad” strike for a George Orwell quote so i’m careful about what i type anymore. That said i’m still pretty much a catfish and still have trouble not taking that rich smelling stink bait from time to time when it’s dangled.

Re-reading (again) the Dune series. I'm on God Emperor Of Dune currently. I also have most if not all the prequels and sequels written by Frank Herbert's son, Brian. Unfortunately, they don't seem to hold the same level of re-readability as the originals. After these I'm thinking maybe another go-round with Philip Jose Farmer and the Riverworld series.
