For any of you that present, use powerpoint/keynote, etc., you should really check out "Presentation Zen" by Garr Reynolds. He has a great blog too on presentations.

Currently reading "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath: The Battle for Black Sabbath' by Garry Sharpe-Young. So far I'm enjoying it due to the amazing amount of detail it goes into and the tons of interviews. However, he's not the greatest writer but the info makes up for it. Surprising number of errors the editors missed as well, typos and such.

About the 1985 expedition on the unclimbed north-east ridge of the Everest (on which Boardman and Tasker died a couple years before). Very well written, very funny at times, I'm only in the third chapter though.

Ahh, I haven't seen this one before. Better add it to my list :)

Incidentally I just finished the book "Everest: The unclimbed ridge" which was about the expedition where Boardman and Tasker died.

i actually own that book, yet i've never read the first one :hmm:..or any subsequent one..heh..i've always wanted someone to build me the shapeshifting shakespearean robots, especially the bard

John Krakauer: Into thin air

A commercial expedition on the Mt. Everest goes horribly wrong. Despite the climbers taking the 'easy way up' from the south-east, called the 'yak-route' by some, 4 out of 5 climbers making it to the summit die in a storm. Krakauer is the only one from this group of 5 who survives.

Again, very well written, which I'm used from Krakauer, and more than just a report of the expedition. There's also plenty of history about Everest in the book, interesting facts, etc.

Don't worry, what I told you is a summary of the first chapter, he starts with the tragedy and then goes back in time to tell the whole story. No spoilers here ;)

I've read both of those - good stuff - really enjoyed them!

Have you read Dan Simmons Hyperion and Endymion? I found that series to be truly extraordinary - but nobody I know, seems to have read them...?

Blew me away at the end!!
