...is on the Modulus Flea Bass. I just like that tone to be there when i need it. I have heard it is the MMX?

FWIW:

the Mod Bart and SD pups were supposedly wound to Mod specs and were/are not sold by the makers. I've had all 3 pups (see FAQ Dimento's MM experiment) and to my knowledge that is so. You can only get one by buying the bass or pulled pup from one.

Fact of the matter is, I'd speculate you wouldn't have much trouble locating one if you made it known you'd pay a 1/10 that for the pup. The ones I've seen have never gone for more than $100. I wouldn't even bother with the following cause it's not worth your time given the probability of landing one - which I think you could conclude just from looking at it let alone reading it. Fact is, it's the only way to know you've eliminated the pup aspect in the tone search. Otherwise you'll always wonder if it's the pup - and for good reason.

Not really cause the LP is the only one I've kept. I would speculate one of the CB models which I've heard as much said about - for what that's worth. But having had the MMC, the MME, and Mod Bart, I'd say that's possible - especially if there's a MME type CB model with a million wiring options. Never really looked at the CB pups, think I've only had one. You might even be able to get it with an MME it you wanted to go through the trials.

There's lot of things besides pups that make up a sound. Primarily you just want a good solid sound from a pup then start playing with other variables.

All sound have their applications and limitations and get old after a while. To me the best thing about trying to cop tones is the tones you come up with in the effort. It's cool to hit one every once in a while though - which is about all the luck I ever have with it.
