I think the Sterling that BubbaZed was referring to was the Music Man Sterling Bass, which is actually another model of bass that Music Man makes (
Sterling). As he said, it's kind of like a slimmed down, modernized Stingray, with a narrower neck. I think it's also got a beefier tone, because its pickup is typically wired in series rather than in parallel. It also typically has a ceramic-based pickup.
Confusingly, they also named their budget line Sterling By Music Man (SBMM), leading to misunderstandings all over the place. If you wanted an SBMM-branded Sterling Bass, I believe it's called the SB14. I don't see it on the website; maybe it's a Guitar Center/Musician's Friend exclusive?
As for the electronics, I had been under the impression that, besides the SUB series stuff, the SBMM basses have the same electronics as the USA stuff?
