What Bass is this??

I just checked and they are in fact Grover tuners. How much do they sell for and where best to buy from?
The actual Grover Tuners from that time period are very hard to find. I had gotten a few from a connection I had in Indonesia, but he no longer can acquire them.

They also came in Chrome and Gold.

I have a few. Is it a real Grover with Grover cast into the Tuner? Usually only the 4Q and 4QB had the actual Grover Tuners and the 4 had the die-cast no-name tuners.

The no-name tuners can usually be found on eBay. Schecter and LTD use that same ones.

It looks like I have the tuner already but I need the black hexagonal screw that holds it in place and the black washer? See photo.

The parts from this should work for you.

Also, Dean USA in Tampa Florida does not sell replacement parts for any imported Dean instrument. They will only sell replacement parts for USA made Dean instruments and you must provide a USA serial number as proof even if you bought used. This is per my own personal experience and not hearsay.

I just ordered the last one, thanks to you! You guys are awesome and very helpful! What strings do you recommend for this bass? My own personal preference are flatwounds because I like my bass sounds to be more “felt” than “heard” P-bass mindset even though this is not a P-bass. I want to be able to play “Little Green Bag” with due justice.

I'm a nickel round wound guy, usually Roto-Sound, especially on an active bass. I usually play flats or tapes on semi-hollow or hollow body basses. So I can't help you. Drop into the P bass club and I am sure you'll get all kinds of recommendations.

If you read the ad, it states it is a USA custom shop bass. A USA built instrument will always be more expensive than an import. That said, due to Dean being known as a less expensive bass, I think they are going to have a hard time getting that much for it. no matter how high the quality may be.
Yep, "asking price" only rarely quantifies the actual selling price... :bassist:

THIS IS NOT A USA CUSTOM SHOP BASS.
Maybe the body could be (I strongly doubt it), but the neck is not as it is clearly a made in South Korea neck from 2009. The 'E' indicates it is from the World Music Factory. This changed to a WK around 2015 and IW for World Music factory in Indonesia.

USA Dean basses are always stamped into the wood like so.

The ad states:
"Country of origin USA"
So maybe they lied. Either way, not worth $2500 IMHO.

Clearly false advertising. Anyone can state that in an Advertisement.
Please don't proliferate false information. What I have posted clearly indicates where it was made and when with proof to back it up.

The sale ad that OP posted and the pictures that OP posted aren't the same bass. Yes, you're right that the ad says the bass it is selling a USA made Dean. B-Mac is also right that OP's bass is not one of those.

Man, OP never said that the bass they posted pictures of and the sale ad they showed after were the same bass. That was just the result of their looking for more info before coming here. It's always good to double check what specifically is being spoken about so that everybody's actually on the same page.

(That goes for everybody, not just the two of you.)

Well said. The OP never said that.
However, Thumpin6string did say it.
My statement still stands.

Thumpin6string did not state that OP's bass was made in the USA.

Thumpin6string was explaining why the price difference existed between the ad that OP showed and the other, similar basses that OP could find. It was already long since made obvious that OP's bass was Korean and Thumpin6string never once said that OP's bass was something it isn't.

Nobody's going to dispute that you're the guy that knows the most about Dean basses on this forum, but to misunderstand what he was saying and then come at him like you did, finishing with that "Too many peeps talking about something they know little about" when it was you who didn't make sure you knew what he was talking about, and then doubling down once that's pointed out, is patently ridiculous.
