I just don't see why you need another bass here. Different strings and adjusting your technique shoudl allow you to cop a pretty wide array of tones with those two basses.

If you just feel the need to pick up somethign different then . . . Fender Jazz Bass. People seem to like those well enough.

A Precision, even a Squier Vibe, would fit the bill like a glove. For effects I wouldn't get several cheap pedals; you probably won't like them. If you want to try out different effects try them in the store or buy a cheap used multi effects unit like a Zoom. My only effect for a few years was a TC Electronic chorus unit. I have more now, but that's my go to effect when I want a wetter tone.

A brief read of the OP would have informed you that he alread has a P ;)

No offense but I kinda feel like you're asking what else you can hammer a nail with besides a hammer. If you are comfortable with the Precision, I say roll with that. You could also try something with active electronics but I don't see a "need". A used Yamaha anything could get you where you need to be.

What is your tone lacking right now between those two basses?

**Just looking online for a minute and it seems as though Paramore has had a few different bassists, one of which plays a Precision.

yeah i dont feel like playing paramore with my p i just cannot feel the similar sound to paramore's bass, but thanks for the advise guys, it helps a lot, btw, would jaguar be the one that fits me?(i heard that jaguar is pretty nice, isnt it?)

You should try and figure out what you think is pretty nice, and what kind of sound you're looking for, before buying something.

I heard that SX is pretty nice. I heard that Ibanez is pretty nice. I heard Rickenbackers are pretty nice. I hear those Yamahas are pretty nice. Oh I heard those American Peaveys are pretty nice... You get the idea.

In that price range, I would go with a Sterling by Music Man or a G&L Tribute. IMO/IME these both pack a tremendous bang for your bassy buck.

YMMV

No one will know if a bass "fits you" other than yourself.
For what it's worth, I wouldnt be surprised if the bassist in Paramore plays a P or a J (I listen to them too lol)

Doesn't look like you need a new bass; your P should cover what your playing, with the LTD to throw in some variety! But on the other hand, seems to me you might WANT a new bass, sounds like you might have some G.A.S. - I'd surf the electric bass forums, go to all the shops in your area and try out as many different basses that are available to you...b/c we are all going to tell you a different bass is what you want to buy...

But you asked for suggestions...
For basses: Ibanez SR's are nice. The Spector Legend Classic and Custom basses are really nice w/o breaking the bank.

For effects - have you had effects before? If not, (and someone above mentioned it) check out the Invalid Link Removed for the price, it has every effect you could think of trying out, and Zoom actually makes great stuff.

And good luck!
Cheers, Gus

You don't know what to buy? That is a very rare and special thing called not having GAS. Enjoy it.

I suggest you hold on to the money and use the perfectly good P you already have. And some day when you come across a bass that really speaks to you, you'll have the dough to pick it up. Buying just for buyings sake doesn't make a lot of sense.

Between the P and LTD, you have some good tonal variety... I'd suggest upgrading your amp/cab set up if you want to spend $$$. You'd be suprised how much of a difference a new head or cab can have on the bass you've been playing for a while.

I play powerpop and use an SX p/j and an Ibanez ATK... i used a MiM jazz for a while, but didn't like the tone in regards to the pop-punky stuff i was playing.

To be a REAL cool pop-punk bassist look into a Mosrite Bass or a Mosrite copy like an Aria (Diamond), Eastwood (Hi-Flyer), or Univox (Hi-Flyer).

I think he just got some major GAS thats why he want a new bass. But i say get a Fender Jazz Bass to fill up the gap.

What more can you ask with a P and J in your hand.

Simple and traditional is better sometimes.

Please don't get me wrong I like active as well :)
