Do your self a favor an get a Sandberg California and you'll have the best of both worlds (JBass and MMStingray) with equal build quality (handmade in Germany, Delano PU's, zero fret, active/passive, ...) for a really fair price. (1300-1500, guess about 1800$)
I played my Stingray for the last 12 Years and played some J's and P's also but truly I LOVE my Sandy! She's so versatile with a J-Style-PU and a MM-Style-PU (can be splited) and switchable active/passive electronics. The neck is slappers dream! The sound is awesome!
I dare to say that the quality is equal to the Stingray and even better than most of the Fenders I was able to try during the last years.
You'll get a lot of bass for your money!
