What Bass?

So Im looking to buy my second bass right now and dont know weather but I dont know weather to buy a 4 or 5 string.
All the stuff I play Im fine with a 4 but I wont be buying another bass for a while most likely so I wanna buy something that I wont regret buying. Im looking to spend around $700 and I play mostly metal and hard rock ei. Megadeth, Maiden, Rush, Slayer BLS you get the picture.

Thanks

do you find that during your course of playing, you need to down tune the lowest string to D often?

if so, a 5-ver will be helpful...

if you don't see the need to play lower notes, or higher notes than a 4 -string then don't. :)

if the reasoning is get 5 string because even if you don't need it now, at least you know you have a 5th string when the time comes.... to that reasoning, i'd say why not get a 10-string instead, so when the time comes that you'll need 10 strings they are there!

so anyways, if you think you need extra range, then go for it, if you're fine with 4 strings and no need to extend in future, then just stick to 4 strings.
