Once you get over the horrible taste, they do seem to do the trick though.

Just opened my first Shiner Holiday Cheer of the season. Simply a lovely beer with the taste of peaches and pecans in it - you can really taste the peaches.

Oh goodness, what terrible iniquity did I commit last night? Guys I'll run out and buy something worth sharing tonight to make up for it.

If anyone has any suggestions to aid me on my quest for the most caramelly, malty, but not at all hoppy brown ale of all time, I welcome them (ok, it can be a little hoppy).

Oh yeah, 1,5 liter (0.33 gallon) of Belgian made Dwarf beer.. And I got two for my birthday last week.. Seems that my friends do know what I like, as I got over 10 liters of Belgian goodness..

I have that at home and was going to crack it over the holidays. I probably should have bought more when the local shop had it in stock.

This is going to sound like a shameless plug, but...my wife found a Total Wine store that just opened about 5 minutes from our house in south Fort Worth, and she took me there a few nights ago. I almost hyperventilated when I saw the beer selection they had - an entire aisle with single beers for "make your own 6-pack" choices. Picked up a good selection with some recommendations from the clerk, and it's all stuff I've never had before. First up last night was a Maredsous Triple ale. Really, really nice.

Anyway, really nice abbey ale. At first sip, I thought it was going to be too spicy, but it mellows really quickly.

Been drinking the **** out of Sierra Nevada's new imperial stout Narwhal. Hot but very good. Bought 16 of them, hope to stash 8 away for a year or so from now.

I had a bit of that at a beer tasting event a couple of weeks ago. Good stuff. It was my favorite of the five stouts served.
