What delay do you use and recommend?

Just wondering what delay pedal/s you use and what for. I am looking at currently the tc electronics nova repeater, boss dd-7, line 6 dm4. I want in a delay pedal tap tempo and reverse delay plus all the basics.

So, given the features you're looking for, you definitely need to be looking at digital delays. A few to consider:

Boss DD-20

There's nothing wrong with those you mentioned though.

I personally use an Akai Headrush and a vintage analogue Ibanez AD-9. Neither of them have reverse delay as it's not a feature I need/use. I have played and can recommend all of the pedals I mentioned. Another one to look at is the Empress Superdelay although I haven't tried it! It gets great reviews.

I've been using the Akai Headrush. I mostly use it in looper mode, however.
That said, I'm anxious to record with it in tape delay mode utilizing the individual outs.

The EHX Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai (referred to as the SMMH round these parts) gets my vote. It has two really indespensable controls that arent found on most delay pedals. The decay knob adds reverb and the filter knob allows you to filter bass or treble out of the repeats. Being able to dial in a smidge of reverb whilst also filtering out the lows from the repeats results in a great ambient sound without a muddy low end.

It can also make repeats fade in rather than out which sounds really eerie, and another mode where holding the footswitch plays up to the last six seconds backwards. Plus reverse delay, presets, tap tempo and a looper!

The DD-20 has a tone knob that does essentially the same thing as the filter knob you mentioned. Plus the reverse, presets, tap tempo and looper as well

It doesn't have the built-in reverb though.

i use the Nova Repeater and love it, but if i had to again, i'd like get the SMMw/H, just for the filter.

(i'm currently trying to build my own high pass filter for the delay, so it's not that big a deal, but you'll want this feature, guaranteed)

I get by with a DD-7. If I had the $ and real estate I'd get a DD-20 (or possibly SMMH) and a nice analog delay.

I have tried the Empress SD and it would be my delay of choice if I didn't have my current one (Damage Control Timeline).

I had the Nova Delay and it was quite good. Lots of features and pre-sets but no crazy modulation or feedback.

If you want something simple that sounds good I have a Wasabi Delay which has reverse on it that I am selling in the classifieds. It is a delay that has tap tempo and hard to beat for the price. Truth be told, I like the sound quality better than the Nova Delay, although it has less features. The reverse on the Nova Delay is quite incredible though and pretty much beats anything mentioned here (sound-wise in my opinion)
