What do you do besides playing music?

image.jpeg
I sail my catamaran or ride my Elephant (its a motorbike).
I can sail and play bass, but not ride and play ;-)

I like hiking and traveling. I love checking out underground bands, whether live at local venues or collecting their records and demos. Also into independent theatres and film fests. Exotic and gourmet food. And I never turn down a solid opportunity to party!

When I am not playing music or making America Great Again working I am working out, riding motorcycles, shooting, watching other bands, spending time with my animals, spending time with my wife/best friend or watching the Minnesota Vikings during football season which is always a roller coaster ride (New Orleans :hyper: / Philadelphia :bawl:).

For the most part though I usually have a bass in my hands.

Myself, i love languages so I've been teaching myself Japanese over the last three months. It's been a hard journey but now I can read most of the average Japanese you might see on a restaurant menu and much of what you'd see in the subtitles in an anime, and I can understand about 30-40% of what someone says in a television show or in real life. Of course, I still need to work hard on my grammar and vocabulary.
Yep Japanese is awesome. Even a few words do make a huge difference in Japan. I've been there twice and would gladly go again. Having a big cold beer with a bowl of noodles in a small street restaurant in Japan, is one of the best thing there is. Then afterwards it's the Tattoo parlour for another japanese tattoo and the guitar stores (Japan has some of the best there is and customer service is second to none). Jaa ne.

For work I am the BIM manager for an architectural firm.
I also have a software company
I also have a small business where I work on bass guitars
I also customize and build bass guitars for myself
I also built my own speaker cabinets - 6 of them
I am also an ordained clergy
I am also an artist
I also do organic gardening
I also do hiking
I am into natural foods and natural cures ... my newest book is "The Plant Paradox"
I used to refinish furniture
I used to be a runner ... I got too old for that
And I have a wife and kids

In the morning and early afternoon before work, I vape and play PC games. At night after work I vape, drink (Bourbon), & watch shows (currently Stark Trek Deep Space 9) or movies. On my days off I do all the above.

I also do a lot of reading at work with my trusty Kindle Paperwhite. I read mostly fiction.

I've never been and had never thought about traveling there until people started telling me stories about the place once they found out that I was learning the language. I did know that the selection of instruments there is awesome, in the literal sense. Japan seems to be a culture of collectors and special interests... I'd love to go bass/record shopping there sometime. Do you know 日本語?

I'm talking hobbies, pastimes... extra-curricular activities of whatever sort. What is your NOT-JOB? How do you spend your "free" time?

So what about you? Do you whittle wood? Race Formula 1 cars? Do you Figure Skate? Or maybe you chew tobacco and practice for the Guiness World record in spitting distance! Let us know!

Hit the gym!! all though by looks you'll never know it !

[Guiness world records doesn't have a listing for actual saliva spitting but there's some interesting stuff to be found here all the same: guinness world record spitting distance - Google Search ]

Yep a little bit and so does my wife.
Ochanomizu in Tokyo, the place to get a new guitar or have a latte in one of the hip coffee places around.
Probably one of the only places in the world where you'll see Les Pauls on display on the sidewalk lol
