What do you do for life?

full time education, working crazy shifts at Boots (the british version of Target, basically) and giving bass lessons/doing the odd gig here and there for cash.

Hoping to go in to particle physics, perhaps with a long term aim to go into politics in the future.

I'm wondering how mane people here are professional musicians or work in the music industry. I'd like to do music for life, but for now I'm working for an airline.

What a coincidence,I work for an airline,but play part time on the weekends.

Teach music for a living. I play 4-6 shows a month. While bass is not the only way I make money, since 1973 every dime I've made has come from some kind of music work, including teaching, composing/arranging and performing.

I've been making a living by touring, playing and teaching bass for the last 7 (or so) years, but I went back to university; studying to be a teacher at a grammar school
...at least that's an option, and not a bad one. Teachers are paid quite good over here.

Professional student.

Spent a year at university, couldn't handle the pressures at that stage in my life. I spent the next three years at college getting my Electronics Engineering Technology diploma. I graduated last June second highest in my class (not a big deal considering there were just 10 graduates), but I felt like I should continue my education. Starting next July, I may go back to university via a College Transfer program to get a degree in Electrical Engineering. I worked for a friend of my dad for a few months, but I'll get another job to earn more cash to go back to university.

Wow, so you are in OT for research then?

I am a agricultural framer, I build a lot of barns. I am also a youth pastor, but I don't get paid for that (wish that I did). Sometime in the future I will be a full time youth pastor/traveling speaker/author.
