I just want to know because some people are on here for hours in a day. How do you do that? I go through my notifications and then go on trending for a bit but that soon gets boring. What do you do when you log in to TB?

I usually just keep hitting "New Posts" or the lightening bolt to see what people are talking about right now.
I'm working my english langage by reading topics from which i'm interrested, and sometimes reply. Talkbass is the Perfect tool cause music ( and especially bass) is my passion.
I log in a few times a day, always hit the lightning bolt, and if nothing interesting pops up, I dig into the “Basses”, “Amps”, “Band Management” and “Off Topic”. Sometimes I’m posting and interacting, sometimes just reading.
I have TalkBass bookmarked to Favorites so I'm always logged in. I read it when I see Alerts flagged.
I've gone through phases here, in and out over the years. I've been participating recently because of a new Fender I wanted to buy. I looked for reviews and owner's experiences. Then I wound up in the Strings forum because I change the things so infrequently I thought it might be a good idea to see what was new. There is a lot, including added video content from a luthier's shop.
When I was last here five years ago I had just sold a really nice active Spector and return to my passive roots. I had little reason then to keep looking at gear. With a new acquisition I looked in again. That got me to take the flats off my '68 Telecaster to return to the roundwounds I used when I began playing and the guitar was new. I strung TI flats on my new passive instrument in response. Very versatile combination.
I owe TB a new Supporting Membership I let lapse years ago. Next check at the end of the month.

i'm off and on TB throughout the day. i'm retired and easily entertained. covid has upped my game/time. i generally log in and go to "recent posts." i follow/read (but not always post) some of the clubs.
I mostly just use the "Alerts" widget in the upper right corner of the thread page...
I like to check in daily to see how many red flag alerts i have that day...
I'm off and on throughout the day. My job goes from mundane to catastrophe at a moment's notice so I may be on for 5 mins or 1 hour based on how it goes.
My favorite threads are the "post a funnier photo" and "bass humor and gig stories"
Other than that I find lots of humor when members state their opinion as fact, yeah, whatever. If you don't agree with them you're wrong, again, yeah, whatever.

I'm basically only in Amps and OT unless I have a question. Peruse the classifieds now and again.
I watch for fairly straightforward "basic" or "simple" questions with no or few replies. I want to try amd contribute to the usefulness of the forum for new players or players who aren't gear-heads. If the question has been answered already, I either add some non-essential but useful info on topic, quote and dispel mis-information, or move on.
Of course I'm a hack player with not much to offer in most sub-forums. Ive never been a BL or had much of an issue with one. It has been a while, and might still be a while since gigging. I dont build or mod basses, and I have basically one example of most types so I dont drool over more. I dont record. I have no string preference and dont use pedals. I assuredly cant teach anyone anything about technique or music theory, notation or how to play the darn thing. (I probably should try and learn some of this stuff, huh?). That all pretty much covers the sub-forums in BG.

Like several others have mentioned, I'm on and off a handful of times per day, depending on my daily work flow. And over the past couple of years, it's about 99% spent here in the Off Topic...only occasionally peeking in on the bass-related forums.
Hardly ever here on weekends...only if there's something special going on and feel the need to comment on it.
