Society deems certain words acceptable, and other words not acceptable. It's just a fact of living in a polite society. Words have started fights, and some have even started wars. Words are considerably more than just a grouping of sounds. Words carry meaning. Cursing in a public venue, especially is "casual conversation" cause people to believe that you lack manners, education and a proper upbringing. Is that the type of image you want to potray.

That's a good one. I don't mind if someone holds one or two seats for those getting popcorn or in the bathroom, but it's crazy when someone tries to save numerous seats, or an entire row. At the final Star Wars movie, we encountered two people trying to save two entire rows in a stadium theater. We sat down anyway, and one of the guys told us to move. When we politely refused, he left to tell on us. The manager followed him back, but then told him and his friend that they could save two whole rows. Their party didn't show up until 10 minutes after the movie started.

A similar thing happened at the opening of Return of the King. Some kid tried to save an entire row, lining it up with jackets, popcorn, etc. Folks tried to sit there, and the kids told em that they were saving it. It worked for a while. The previews started, none of their friends showed, and a group of huge football player types began started picking up their jackets and tossing aside and taking their seats. Not to glorify what they did, but I would have done the same thing.

No it's not. I don't understand why some people can yell out cuss words as loud as they can, and nothing gets said. But I do it in a casual conversation quitly I get slammed for it.

As I stated above, most people don't have the guts to say something to someone who is behaving rudly, especially if that person is drunk and enraged. Feel lucky that you were sitting near someone who has both the nerve and the desire to set you on the path to polite behavior.

I have been to many, many major sporting events. While many yell and scream, few use foul language. Those that have tend to be escorted out by security in short order.

On a completely semantic, rhetorical and theoretical level I agree with you.

On a social and practical level, you're completely wrong. If you can't play the game by the rules (ie polite social interaction) then you deserved to be called on it.

Just because you don't like the standards set by the society around you doesn't make them wrong. It just makes you mal-adjusted to social interaction on a basic level.

While its completely fine for you to swear in certain settings, you lack the discernment to know where to do it and where to avoid it.

At no point have I said swearing is bad. I have no problem swearing in the least. But I know there are places and times where its not acceptable.

Some of those sounds put together (we call them words)mean harmful things, or bad things. The point here is not if they should exist or not, the point is that they shouldn't be said in public, and if someone can't understand that... well they just shouldn't be allowed in public.

Anyways what I'm trying to say is that I have been around people who are consistantly cussing and acting obniouxiuos, and yes it is annoying and rude. I'm not like that.

Once again this was a casual conversation, this is a case of "if you don't like it change the channel". We weren't talking loud, he could have easily tuned us out. And he wasn't even polite about it, it was a stern "watch your language". He was probably one of those miserable guys who's always peeping out his windows trying to find out what his neighbors are up to so he can get annoyed by it.

Economy is not just gold, money, income credit cards, those things are just part of economy.

Back when people didn’t have things like Money we still had economy. It was called trade. I made 2 shirts, you made 2 pants, cool, I’ll trade you one of my shirts for one of your pants. That too is economy.

Money and gold were just a way to simplify and to make economical trade easier, it is not the economy.

If that is what you meant, I still don't see how it's fake though. Then would telephone be fake as well because it too was invented and it's nothing but an object.

Ah, I get it. You can decide when someone's cussing is rude, but no one else has that right. People should just "tune you out" so that you can be rude with impunity. Convenient.

This man didn't come to your house to listen to you cuss. He was in a public forum, as were you. What difference does it make whether this was a "casual conversation" or not? You were in public and others can hear you. I find it hilarious that you condemn this man as one of those "miserable guys" simply because he has a modicum of public decency.

Lots of spitting and hacking in public in Japan, right under your feet.

Kids sitting on the floor in the train or in front of the door.
I stepped on one a couple years ago and kicked ones leg so hard it spun him around.
The first incident almost got all four of them off behind me, the second one kept his leg out of the way of the door after that.

Customers who argue about something they know nothing about after asking a question and being given a factual answer.
I constantly have people ask if people wouldn't get cold or freeze to death in the ice hotel, then when I tell them it hasn't been a problem, they argue and say that no one could possibly sleep in there.

Customers who think you bought all your equipment for them to play.

The cell phone show-offs who speak so quietly you can't hear them when they talk to you, but you can hear even an aisle over in the grocery store. Lots of rude cellphone usage in Japan too but many people will rush out of the room or talk in very hushed tones out of respect for others around them.

Drivers who go 40 mph until you start to pass them and stay on your tail after you get around them doing 80, then eventually disappear in your rearview mirror as you continue on your way at 50.

People at work with no consideration for co-workers.
