So what do you do all day that you can't get a full-time job? Part of being a professional musician (especially in an original band!) is setting yourself up so that you can get by while still playing in bands. It's in the first chapter of The Musician's Handbook. It also says you should go where the music is ;)

Working full-time only takes 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. There's plenty of time for music, unless you watch TV/play playstation all day.

Thats the thing - I suffer from being almost completely blind in one eye and having a progressive cateract in the other so driving is not possible (which annoys me when I've got a couple of mates with 20-20 vision who can't be bothered to learn when they know full well I WOULD be driving if I could see...:mad: :mad: :mad: ) and trains and busses are the cheapest I can afford...sure, my mum gives me lifts around my hometown...and even to college a couple of times when I went, but theres NO WAY she'd take me to Leeds all the time...:help:

Sorry to hear about that Addy , I didn't realise . I just think that its going to be awkward getting to Leeds by public transport and it will be even more awkward when the band starts gigging all around the place . Have you thought of starting your own band in Sheffield?

Surely you mean less awkward? If they're gigging all over the place, then they'll more than likely have a van and be able to pick him up or meet him half way.


Addy, I think you should just go for it. All the rest of that stuff will work itself out one way or another. Think about getting a FT job and moving to Leeds, but don't worry youself over the distance for now. If anything, they'll be impressed by the fact that you're willing to travel so far to be in their band.
